Who Am I?
Ed Tapscott is a member of the board of directors for Emerald Gems Foundation, Inc. and has held multiple positions within the National Basketball Association. His background belies one of a well-experienced contributor in the business of sports.
Ed received his bachelor’s degree from Tufts University and his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from American University Washington College of Law. He was an assistant at American University in the 1970s while a law student, and eventually became the Head Basketball Coach in 1982. In 1990, broadening his career experiences, Ed has held prestigious positions such as becoming a sports agent for Advantage International (a sports marketing and management firm), initial COO of the Charlotte Bobcats and was directly responsible for building the Time Warner Cable Center. A former GM of the New York Knicks, he has also served as the Washington Wizards’ interim coach in 2010. Ed’s ability to analyze complex issues and provide quality answers is a valued addition to the foundation. Currently, Ed is the Vice President of Player Development for the Washington Wizards NBA Team.
Ed has served on many boards and is currently serving on Immersion Media Inc., Board of Directors and British Basketball Association, Inc., Board of Directors.
